Just...can't...say...no...

My life with only one full-time job lasted for all of two months! I am doing a favor for the department I work for as a Graduate Assistant by also working as a half-time Admin Support Coordinator until I leave for China in the middle of October. It's a good thing if I want to stay at Cal Poly, as I will be working with executives in the Dean's Office, but will make it tough to get all of my thesis research done before I leave in October. Guess this means I am back to late nights and long weekends...looks like I'm a workaholic!

Little Miss Sunshine

See this movie...S, K, a theater full of people, and I laughed so hard through out the whole movie. Not a dark comedy like I thought it was going to be. It was great and I would see it again!

Yes there were snakes on the plane

Wow, total guy movie. I was startled and jumpy through most of the movie, but S, C, and Ben were laughing hysterically. They loved the movie...I didn't think it was worth the $8 I paid. I guess it is only fair to see a guy-movie once in awhile as they all have suffered through many chick-flicks.

Back to Bedlam

Ok so I know I'm a little delayed (2 years) in finding out about James Blunt, but I have to say I love all of the songs on this CD and it makes my commute enjoyable. I just need to transfer it onto my iPod so I can enjoy it in the lab too!

Never Cry Over Spilled Milk

If you need a good laugh, this is a great story.

This afternoon I had to collect a pooled milk sample from the (pre-tank) spigot while the cows were being milked. The whole process is under a lot of pressure in order to flush the milk from the udder through all the pipes and into the storage tanks. The plastic nozzle you move on the spigot is very tight to prevent leaks onto the floor. I carefully moved the nozzle down and collected my sample, but as I was moving the nozzle up it shot out of my hand and onto the ground (the thin metal piece holding the nozzle on had been taken off). Milk began shooting everywhere (door, tanks, ceiling, floor, me) and I had to lean into the stream of warm, raw (unpasturized) milk to collect the nozzle and plug the hole. I cleaned up the room and went back across the street to spin my samples as quickly as possible so I could go home to a nice shower. I was hoping no one would notice that I was covered in milk from head to toe, but I was wrong. K started laughing the minute I walked through the door and ran to find S to get the camera. I looked at my reflection and realized that my hair looked like Cameron Diaz in "Something About Mary", very crispy and plastered on the side of my face. I tried to clean up some in the bathroom and pull my hair back into a ponytail, but it was to no use - time to call it a day!

So I get home and tell the story to Ben, who knew something was wrong when he saw me. After giving me a "welcome home" hug, he commented: "I don't know what smells worse, the boiled milk I'm making or you."

On that note, I think it's time to get in the shower!

(Below is the picture Ben took of me this evening in all my glory.)

Ophidiophobia

I got a "personal message" from Samuel L. Jackson today on my cell phone. Check out Snakes on a Plane and get ready for August 18th!
