Where's my ball?

Everyone knows that Ben plays golf. Everyone knows that I went to the driving range back in 2007. And now everyone will know that I officially "play" golf now!Yesterday Ben's plan was to play a short round with a friend after work and I was going to hit a few balls at the driving range/read a magazine. Since Jesse had other plans, Ben talked me into being his partner on the 10-hole course at Laguna Lake. I agreed only because it was cheap, no one was there, and all the holes are really short. I had a great time and will do it again, but thankfully we didn't keep score!

My Day

This morning I searched every lab for the plastic wrap. Twice! In my head I was thinking "Great, now we are hiding the plastic wrap!", then during the second furious search "Seriously, no one bothered to replace it when it ran out!". In frustration I just wrapped my gels in tin foil. Minutes ago I just saw the GIANT box of plastic wrap sitting right next to where I was working. It was there the whole time. I had to laugh.

Over GoogleTalk this afternoon, Ben decided to run a new security question by me: What did Andrea hide under the bed at Die Swaene?
I laughed. I almost choked on my water. The randomness! Perfect security question! (Get me alone and I'll tell you the answer, plus a totally funny story!)

Sadly, the recap of my very exciting Drinks, Dancing, and Bikes Part II will have to wait. Since it was a million degrees yesterday (aka so-hot-we-couldn't-move-off-the-couch), our typical Sunday afternoon did not happen. Ben did some laptop work and I brushed the cat while the Half-Ton Boy was on TLC (yes our life is THAT exciting). So I need to fit laundry, ironing, meal planning, grocery shopping, and cookie baking all before the season finale of Gossip Girl tonight (and no I will not multitask during Gossip Girl).

Drinks, Dancing, and Bikes!

Last weekend was pretty fun. I had a work group BBQ with awesome food on Friday. Then we met up with some family/friends at Giuseppe for a drink or two (they have the best martinis!). Finally we headed over to Mother’s for dancing. I think it has been almost 3 years since I had been there. Crazy!Ben and I dragged ourselves out of bed Saturday morning to meet up with Emily and Scott for some bike riding. We drove out to Lopez Lake and rode on Hi Mountain Road, a quiet paved country road. It had some good hills and gave us a great workout. I have a new respect for all bicyclists I see!
It looks like this weekend will be more of the same. I am looking forward to it!

Life Without Cars

I really love this idea! In college, I loved that for all four years I was walking distance from campus or downtown. For me, it made life less stressful and I found myself really interacting more with people. Meeting people while out, walking to the awesome neighborhood deli, quickly visiting with a friend at their place. Life was good.

Ok it wasn't perfect. I am cleverly forgetting the bad. Like the one time it was pouring rain, and while walking to my evening class I stepped in a huge puddle and had to sit for two hours with wet pants. But I like to stay in my ignorant bliss and would move to Vauban tomorrow if I could!

White House Media

The White House has an official Flickr stream. A quick glance through the images and I want to go watch The West Wing.

14 days

I have heard it takes 14 days, 21 days, or 30 days to make a habit stick. I am happy to report Ben and I have successfully passed the first mark on our no soda and caffeine journey. I know we will make this a new habit in our lives!
