Fàilte gu Alba

Guess where we are! I’ll give you a big hint…Scotland for 10 days!

It has been a crazy couple of days. Finalizing work stuff Thursday/Friday, booking the airplane tickets Friday morning, organizing the house, getting/taking care of the kitty, switching the tickets while driving up to SF on Saturday (we were running very late and in danger of missing the flight), then immediately driving down to LA, flying to London, and finally driving 8 hours to Aberdeen Sunday evening. Whew!

I am actually sitting in Starbucks right now finishing work stuff (some big reports were due today), and then I am meeting up with Ben (he has meetings all day) to get some dinner at a local pub. I can’t wait to start exploring tomorrow!

In Quotes

Ben and I got our Absentee Ballots done last night and I dropped them off at the County Clerk today! If you are still undecided for the office of President, Google Labs has a great new feature that allows you to compare various quotes of the two main opponents on major issues.

It's Tap Water!

Tap'dNY. Pure honesty.

Ben would LOVE this since he LOVED to tease me during my Aquafina addiction that I was basically drinking very expensive tap water (it was usually bottled in either Fresno or Hayward).

To An Old Me

MSN had an article recently from Prevention Magazine containing tips to live longer. Even though I am still in my twenties, I figured it’s never too early to start, so I am! Here are the tips I lack and hope to pick up and stick with:
  • Walking 30 Minutes Daily
  • Skipping Soda
  • Eating Purple Food
  • Eating Less Red Meat
  • Drinking Fresh Brewed Tea
Combine this with my plan to cut simple carbs from my diet, and I should be around for awhile!

Job Perks

It is required for my position (I deal with Safety for the group), so I took the Adult CPR/AED class earlier this week and will be taking the First Aid class today. These classes are offered for FREE by the company I work for, and since I am a huge fan of taking advantage of free benefits given by employers, I think I am going to look into taking the Child/Infant CPR class. I might find myself babysitting a little one in the near future and I should be prepared!

Mystery Meat Reveal

I'm stopping by Costco on my way home from work to pick up some necessities we don't get during our weekly supermarket trip, mainly meat and poultry. A step up from my "sharpie-on-baggie" method, Martha Stewart has these cute freezer labels to organize everything in your freezer.

Blah Weekend

So this weekend was pretty un-spectacular. It was filled with boring chores and not much else. One thing I did was clean all of my tarnished sterling silver jewelry. It was bad to the point I wasn't interested in wearing certain pieces. A quick google search later and I found an easy method for when the polishing cloth doesn't do the trick. If you are interested, the method worked great!

Girls Weekend II

Since Girls Weekend I was such a success, we decided to plan a little get together down in LA to see Wicked at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. The show was AMAZING! We all LOVED it! I HIGHLY recommend seeing it in the gorgeous old theatre before it leaves in January. I also had a great time in Hollywood. I have always lived in Cali, but never made it to Hollywood (shocking, I know). So I got to experience the cute cafes and shops, colorful characters on the corners, and stars on the sidewalks like a tourist.

Catching up with far-flung friends makes for the perfect weekend, and I can't wait for our next little get together!

Eins, Zwei, G'suffa!

A group of us got together recently at Old Vienna Restaurant in Shell Beach to celebrate Oktoberfest in true German fashion. It reminded me a lot of my experience at a bierhaus in Munich with Emily. Big long tables with lots of people, lots of good food (had the AMAZING potato soup, schnitzel, and goulash), and lots of beer. Basically a really great time!

Enjoy Oktoberfest at Old Vienna through October 26th!

Logo Evolutions

When Emily and I stopped at Starbucks on our way up to the Bay Area, we each got a cup with a different logo on it (remember they brought back the old logo for their 35th anniversary). She commented on how risky it is to change an iconic logo, and I agreed since I have easily recognized the current logo all over the world. So Emily, this is for you! Enjoy the history of some well known logo designs.

Flash Back to 2001

In honor of Google's 10th birthday, you can search like it was back in January 2001. MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, and iPod don't exist, and Gmail is something completely different. It's pretty cool, check it out!

16 Days

Emily and I drove up to my parents house on Saturday to spend the day with the whole family (Rachel flew up for the weekend). Of course Tegan was the highlight and I was quite the paparazzi (with the help of my Dad, Matt, and Emily). The long, exhausting day was totally worth it!

Happy Birthday Ben!

Today my wonderful husband turns 28! I am sure he is quite happy not to have to be working in the field on his b-day (I am too!) like previous years. He had a little early birthday good-luck yesterday with an excellent golf game, but unfortunately I doubt he will have time to hit the green today. This great picture is from his favorite place in the world (Maldives), which I promise we will return to soon. I love you so much and here's to another great year!
