The Luckiest Girl

Last year Ben and I were apart on our anniversary as Ben was out-of-town, and this year unfortunately will be the same as I will be at a conference in Chicago. Sitting in the airport waiting for my flight yesterday morning, I apologized to Ben for not getting his card ready in time (we had decided not to exchange gifts) and he confessed he hadn't gotten mine ready either. Late last night while I was unpacking, I came across this at the bottom of my suitcase...Shocked, I carefully untied the white ribbon and opened the blue box. Inside the pouch was......our infinite symbol! I smiled and grabbed the phone to give Ben a call and share my joy. It made me smile even bigger to find out that he had this planned for awhile (he made a point to fly through Dallas during his last Oklahoma trip so he could make the purchase).

His reason for the gift...."it is our last anniversary before we are married."

Awwww....what a sweetie! Happy 7th Anniversary!

Just Add Culture

Last night I took up Jesse's offer of a free ticket to the show Mozart in Motion at the Cal Poly PAC and had such a great time. Searching through the Mozart Festival website, I found a lot of events I would have enjoyed attending if only I knew about them. The Central Coast is filled with fun events that I would love to go to, so I am going to start checking this site regularly and try at least one new event a month. I now have a plan and the motivation to take better advantage of this wonderful place I live.

Some ideas for August:
  • Kayaking in Avila Beach
  • Elephant Seal watching in San Simeon
  • Attend a Concert in the Park
  • Shop at the Fish & Farmers Market in Avila Beach
  • Bike ride along the coast
  • Wine Tasting

"dah dun, dah dun..."

Ben and I haven’t disappeared and unfortunately are not on vacation, we are just really busy with life. I have so much going on at work (yay for overtime!) and Ben has been spending a lot of time in Oklahoma field testing a new product. We have also spent a lot of our free weekends trying to get the house organized and ready for all of the new furniture we plan to purchase in the next few months. With the dining room complete, Ben is now starting to focus on the next big house project - completely re-doing the backyard!

We did managed to go out and have some fun last night at Fremont Theatre's Classic Movie Night. It was Jaws and the theatre was full! I had never seen the movie before, so I enjoyed being able to watch it for the first time on the big screen with the original print - just like it would have been in 1975!

The Simpsons

While waiting for my incubation to finish tonight, I created Springfield's newest resident - me!

Honestly it really doesn't look like me at all (might be due to the yellow skin and oddly shaped face). I do think the WeeMee I created resembles me better.

Make your own Simpsons' character here.
